"No More Ice Cream" is Vanessa Niloufar Safavi's first exhibition in South Africa, and the conclusion to her three month residency in Cape Town supported by Pro Helvetia and blank projects.
The installation, an eclectic ensemble of individual works & objects, is a continuation of Safavi's interest in fusing the contradictions of references from opposing cultures and fields (in this case life & death, industry & nature, affluence & poverty) without declaring the victory of one over the other.
Vanessa Niloufar
Safavi (b.1980 Lausanne, Switzerland) graduated in 2007 from the
University of Arts, Lausanne. She has had solo exhibitions at Claudia
Groefflin (Zürich), CHERT (Berlin), Le Palais Bleu (Trogen), Kunst10
(Zürich Art Fair), NEO, Naphtaline, (Lausanne) and DOM-TOM, Zwanzigquadrameter (Berlin).
