Politics of representation has been a popular means of analyzing stereotypes since the rewriting of African history and further investigation into Africa. Questions such as, what is ‘African’ [Africa without otherness and with diversity of cultures], have been addressed. When critiquing the concept of the other, artists often use stereotypes and race as a means to question the idea of ‘otherness’ without any other alternative to the stereotypes. Race has been used as a signifier of stereotypes in many artwork and mass media images.
Evidence: The Studio, shows a mundane event and further reduces what should be assumed by showing the viewer, the view of a studio set after production.
